Company fundamentals and financial data
All data are as of the close of Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Emphasis is on company fundamentals and financial data rather than commentary.
The Gaming Activities industry has today become a blend of two main types of companies: those focused on gambling games (including online gambling, casino gambling, horse race and sports wagering, and lotteries), and those focused on non-gambling casual games (including online computer and mobile device games).
For instance, the top U.S.-based company in the Gaming Activities industry is King Digital Entertainment plc (NYSE: KING), producer and host of nearly 200 online games playable on computers, tablets and cell phones, including its biggest smash hit Candy Crush which held the top spot as the most played casual game during its heyday.
The next two U.S.-based companies in the industry, for their part, are focused on gambling types of gaming.
All three companies have billion-dollar market caps, with a huge gap between them and the fourth largest U.S.-based company in the industry which barely has a $40 million market cap.
So in the interest of a fair comparison, I'll be concentrating on the billion-dollar companies with common activities, they being the second and third largest companies in the space: Churchill Downs Inc. (NASDAQ: CHDN) and Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ: SGMS), both of which are focused on gambling.
